Importing Information
Using the powerful and flexible import capabilities of Amicus Attorney, you can transfer practice information from other software programs.
You might have file or contact information that you export from another program in order to import into Amicus Attorney. For example, your firm might use accounting software for which a dynamic link with Amicus Attorney is not available but you may still get your practice information into Amicus.
Most likely your accounting software can export a file containing all of the client names and numbers and the file names and numbers for each client for whom you are working. If you are using a contact manager, you can export names and addresses.
When you transfer information from one software program to another by exporting and importing, you go through a process called field mapping. This is a way of telling one program what to do with the pieces of information from the other program. For instance, if you have a list of ten clients with their addresses and phone numbers in your old program, you want to make sure that each surname gets transferred to the surname field in Amicus, and that the phone numbers do not get transferred to the fax number fields.
