If upgrading from Amicus Small Firm where the current Accounting integration is with PCLaw or QuickBooks, run the Accounting Integration Consistency Checker against existing data several days prior to the targeted upgrade date.
Amicus has a different model which relies on their being a Primary Client on each File, and Clients each have one unique Client ID. The utility is designed to report any issues which may cause problems during Initialization of the link after the upgrade. Its interactive interface allows users to open the reported Files to make the necessary adjustments, or alternatively, to exclude it from the Exchange For more information about this utility, read the Small Firm Consistency Checker Guide, available from the Amicus Attorney Technical Resource Guides/Updates section of our website.
De-archive essential data & Archive unwanted info. Keep in mind that the older versions of Amicus Attorney use the FairCom database which has a data limitation of 2 GB.
Re-Index to clean up the existing Amicus Attorney database.
Post Time and complete the current Billing cycle.
Back up the existing Amicus Attorney database.
Team Members as Contacts will appear as both Firm Members and Contacts in Amicus Attorney.
Ensure that the latest application updates have been applied before running the Converter.
If possible, do a test conversion.
In order to ensure that firm has no downtime, leave sufficient time for upgrade tasks including conversion, accounting initialization, firm settings, data review, etc.
If possible, run the final conversion offsite. This will cut down on the amount of time you will need to be onsite. The conversion process might take about one hour per 100 MB. After conversion, review and configure firm settings (excluding those settings that may rely on server location relative to the firm's network). You can then simply use the backup and restore function after installation at the client's site.
Read the Small Firm Conversion Guide available from the Amicus Attorney Technical Resource Guides/Updates section of our website. Review and make necessary data adjustments as recommended in the Guide (Custom Pages, Firm Member initials, Document Templates, etc.).
