Library
The Library module of Amicus Attorney is a unique knowledge management tool that stores a database of all the information, such as research materials, that your firm has accumulated. Using the Library, you can keep all your information resources at your fingertips. Resources include documents, memos, and other computer files as well as CDs, online services, and Internet or Intranet sites. In short, whatever your computer can access, you can add it to your Library.
The Amicus Library provides an incredibly flexible organizational structure.
You can easily locate materials by browsing through the Library's Sections or by using the Search function.
Library Sections and Pages may be designated as either Firm (available for use by all Firm Members) or Personal (only visible to you).
Queries (that is, Advanced Searches on Library Pages only) may be saved for future use or modification and may be classified as either Firm or Personal. Similar to Sections and Pages, Firm Queries are available for use by all Firm Members, whereas your Personal Queries are only visible to you.
Where the Library is concerned there is a distinction between two types of Firm Members: those with Librarian status and those without. The difference between the two is the amount of control they have over the Library's organizational structure and content. Regular Firm Members only have full viewing and editing privileges for materials in their Personal Sections. Librarians, on the other hand, are those Firm Members assigned to manage the Firm structure. They can change the contents and organization of the Firm Sections and Pages in addition to being able to modify materials in their Personal Sections. It is important to note that Firm Sections and Pages are available on a read-only basis to all Firm Members while a Personal Section is only available to the Firm Member to whom it belongs. Librarian privileges are assigned by the Amicus Administrator.
You can use preference settings to customize the Library module to your personal requirements. For more information on setting these preferences, see Library preferences.
