Document Assembly > Creating and editing Merge Templates
You can add and edit Merge Templates for your own use, or for selected Firm Members. Each Amicus Merge Template record (Amicus Standard Template) has:
An Amicus record containing attributes such as who may use the template, its name, location, Extended Fields used, corresponding Map, and other information.
A corresponding Word or WordPerfect document template which generally contains both static text and Merge Variables.
Important: You must have direct access to the firm's Document Server when authoring Templates. |
You can edit the attributes of the Merge Template in the General, Availability, Extended Fields, and Map views.
The following tutorials introduce the three basic ways to set up your own Merge Templates:
Editing an existing Template, so that it contains the text and formatting you prefer. See Tutorial 1.
Creating a new Template that is a variation on a previous one. See Tutorial 2.
Creating a new Template from scratch. See Tutorial 3.
Additionally, there are tutorials for using HotDocs Forms and HotDocs PDF Advantage with Amicus. See Tutorial 4 and Tutorial 5.
Note to HotDocs Users: Later versions of HotDocs offer both Developer and User editions—while Developer edition is necessary for creating templates, User edition is sufficient for generating documents. |
